Born in Casablanca (MA) on the 1st January 1987 to a family of berbers and brought up in Emilia Romagna (IT). He is the drummer for: “Savana Funk”, “Lisa Manara”, “Brendan Gallagher”, “Sara Zaccarelli”; all of which are groups where he collaborates with “Aldo Betto“, a professional and well known guitarist with whom he shares a strong bond, both musical and personal.
He has had much experience as a sideman in national and international projects, where he always brings his personal sound; a blend of warm, percussive and
ancestral tones that hark back to his African roots, alongside a more modern sound derived from his preference for black music, and all of it’s derivatives (jazz, funk, r&b).
Amongst his collaborations: Roberto… Severini and many others.
As a drummer and composer he appears in many albums: “Musica Analoga” (2016), “Savana Funk” (2017) with the trio by the same name “Savana Funk (aka Aldo Betto with Blake C. S. Franchetto); “Misticanze” by “Massimo Greco”; “Short & Suite” by the artist “Brendan Gallagher with Magnolia Orchestra”.
Youssef earned first prize at the “Moro Music Drum Convert”; he made the finals at the ” Arezzo Wave” festival and at “Conad Jazz Contest” in 2015 which took place at the Umbria Jazz Festival
